Soup: Creamy Tomato Bisque with Lump Crab Meat
Main Course: Shrimp & Grits, Southern Greens

Why do the guys refuse to let me take a decent picture of them?
Memorable Moments:
Jami D: This supper club had a bit of a different format than usual and it made for an unforgettable night for sure. With it being so close to Christmas it's a little hard to find babysitters so Dan and Jami were kind enough to have Dan's sister Erin come down to watch their kids and our kids in another room while while we ate and hung out. While the kids ran around and the guys fried oysters and hush puppies in the garage, us ladies started out with the amazing Pimento Cheese toasts and Boiled Peanuts. It was my first time trying the peanuts and I was addicted. The oysters and hush puppies were also amazing. I was practically stuffed before we even sat down for dinner :)
Which brings me to the story. About 2 minutes before we sat down for our soup poor Reed got sick. All over about 3 rooms. As a result, Reagan also got sick, and I found Leyna gagging at the scene about to get sick herself. This is where you want to scream NOOOOOOO! Poor Dan and Jami. They had worked so hard on dinner and we started without them while they steam cleaned the carpet. Luckily they had a sense of humor about it and were able to join us before too long. Unfortunately Reed got sick again right next to the table while we were eating. I'm literally laughing out loud as I type this. You just have to laugh. This is what happens when you let kids come to supper club!
Really though, the food was so good it didn't ruin a thing. Shrimp and grits is one of my all time favorite dishes and this one was excellent. I haven't been so stuffed in a long, long time. And now that it's a day later, I could really go for another hush puppy ;)

Italian Dinner

Supper Club #2
November 5, 2011
Hosts: Bill & Jenn
Theme: Italian Fare

The Menu:
Drinks: Apple Cider Margaritas, wine
Appetizer: Marinated olives
Main Course: Mixed green salad, Fried meatballs, Rigatoni with pancetta, tomatoes, and hot red peppers
Dessert: Berry Strata
Memorable moments:
Jami D: I think we will always remember the meatballs. The guys basically had an unspoken meatball eating contest. I won't name names but some of them even put a few in their pockets before the trip home. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, especially with the real Italian music playing in the background. Jenn did a beautiful job with the table and every was positively delicious. I couldn't stop eating the olives and salad! We brought the apple cider margaritas so if it doesn't seem like they fit with the theme - that's why!

Jami D: Andy and Kim have set the bar high! Our first supper was delicious, relaxing, and beautiful. Kim did an excellent job with the table scape and menus. Foodie Friends

(from left) Kim, Jenn, Bill, Dan, Andy K, Andy D, Jami D, and Jami T
Welcome to the Eight is Enough supper club! Thanks to Kim we are starting a little club to get together without kids and enjoy a peaceful, delicious meal with some of our very best friends. I think we all consider ourselves to be foodies - we love good food, good drinks, and good company. This club provides it all!
Here's a little history of how we came together:
Kim and Jenn are sisters.
Andy K and Andy D meet in 7th grade and become friends.
The Andys meet Bill in 9th grade.
Andy K goes to his first college in 1999, joins a fraternity, and Dan is his big brother.
Jami D meets the Andys in college in 1999. (Andy K had changed colleges at this point)
Jami D and Andy D start dating in 2001.
Andy K and Kim start dating in 2001.
Jami D and Kim become roommates in 2002.
Andy K and Kim see Dan and Jami T in 2003 at church for Easter service. Talk about a small world!
Jenn and Bill start dating in ____ and marry in 2009.
Along the way Andy D & Jami D have had 2 kids, Dan and Jami T have had 2 kids, Andy K and Kim have had 2 kids + 1 on the way, and Jenn and Bill have had 1 kid.
We start the supper club in 2011!
We are rotating houses about every 6 weeks or so. The host makes all the food and everyone else is responsible for BYOB. I believe Dan came up with the "Eight is Enough" idea and now that I've named the blog after it we're stuck with it!

Got it?
Let's eat!
